At Gatton Baptist Church our core beliefs are stated as follows:
We believe that the Bible/Scriptures are from God
2 Timothy 3:16-17New International Version (NIV)
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Proverbs 30:5 New International Version (NIV)
5 “Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
2. We believe in the Trinity - the Father/Son/Spirit
Matthew 11:27 New International Version (NIV)
“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
John 14:10 New International Version (NIV)
Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
3. We believe in the work of the Holy Spirit as being Regenerative, Indwelling, and manifesting spiritual gifts to edify the Church.
John 14:16-17New International Version (NIV)
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[a] in you.
2 Corinthians 3:17 New International Version (NIV)
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
4. We believe the body of Christ is the church, made up of many members.
Romans 12:4-8New International Version (NIV)
4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
Ephesians 4:16New International Version (NIV)
16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
5. We believe in the need for all mankind to be saved, through the repentance of our sinful selves and by faith in Jesus Christ as the one and only Son of God.
Acts 2:21New International Version (NIV)
21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’[a]
Acts 3:19 New International Version (NIV)
19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
1 John 1:9 New International Version (NIV)
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Romans 10:9-10 New International Version (NIV)
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
6. We believe in Community and are a missional church
Acts 1:8 New International Version (NIV)
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
John 3:17 New International Version (NIV)
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Matthew 5:15 New International Version (NIV)
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house
